excessive wiring
So yesterday i decided to cutout and remove as much extraneous wiring and cables as possible to give us a clean start. Between the phone and (non functional) security system. I removed almost 3 bags of wiring and cables from basement, closet and exterior of the house.
It was insane the amount of extra wires and crap attached to the house.
Floor Update
Last night we sanded and added the final coat of Polyurethane to the floors in the bedrooms and hallways. They are looking really sharp (especially since this our first time refinishing floors)
It is making us consider eventually doing the whole house like this at some time. It was a lot of labor but we were pretty much able to complete the sanding in a weekend and the finish over 3 evenings.

Yesterday we sanded...
We went to our local HD and rented a drum sander and edge sander and attacked the bedrooms and hallway. It was a lot of back numbing work but the floors actually look pretty good. There are a few nicks and bruises but what would you expect from 80+ y/0 floors. We finished up right at 10pm. WatchThis is the first night we were in the place alone. We put up some temporary drapes and started a basic to do list. Afterwards we got a little curious about what was under the carpet. This is the result. ( I will work on better lighting for future updates)
It's officially ours!
We got the keys to the house last night. After some final things being moved out by the previous owner we went in and installed our new locks and handleset!
It was great to see the house empty and realize what we are in for. Exciting and scary at the same time. Thanks so much to all of you for your support and well wishes.

Our first purchase
Today we cashed in some of our first gift-cards at Lowes and bought our first purchase for the house. We bought a Baldwin handleset and matching deadbolts. We got the Medina handleset and Medrina Handles for back door part of the “Prestige Series”

One more step...
Yesterday at 4:30 pm we received news that the house was officially recorded as ours! We will get the keys this Sunday and begin the process of prioritizing the projects needed to get the place ready to move in.
Today was the walk-through
Today we did our walk though and both actually saw the house together for the first time. there are many exciting and scary things to look forward to. We have a lot of work ahead of us but are looking forward to the task.
The previous owner still has a lot to move out and will take the full amount of time to turn over the property. We are looking at getting the keys this Sunday. :)
